Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. We are now providing therapeutic laser therapy for a variety of arthritic conditions, to speed wound healing and treat chronic inflammation.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. Our doctors have many years of experience under their belt when it comes to small animal surgery. When more specialized treatment is needed we have a residency trained veterinary surgeon who provides orthopedic and advanced soft tissue surgeries on site.
Anesthesia: We utilize a combination of the safest and most dependable available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. All patients undergoing anesthesia are under the constant supervision of a technical staff member from induction (start of anesthesia) to recovery. While no anesthetic procedure is risk-free, we can minimize this risk with careful attention to your pet's health status.
Internal medicine consults: We offer referrals to an internal medicine specialty group who perform ultrasounds and endoscopic procedures and help us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases. We enjoy the luxury of having easy access to specialists in dermatology, oncology, medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology and neurology all located in or near Baltimore.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, digital X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. Standard radiographic views as well as contrast studies can be performed at our hospital. We have a board certified radiologist who provides ultrasounds and ultrasound guided biopsies at the hospital as needed.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide EKG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists. We also use Cardiopet, a transtelephonic EKG service that provides quick interpretation of EKG results and treatment recommendations.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. Dental disease is a common problem in small animals and is often overlooked.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Permanent identification: We offer microchip identification using the AVID microchip.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. For home delivery we employ MWI Proxy, a home delivery pharmacy that works with our office to provide rapid delivery of prescribed medications.
Individualized Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet. We recommend Frontline Plus, as well as NexGard, as the most effective flea and tick prevention available. For flea control only we carry Comfortis and Trifexis flea and flea/heartworm preventatives.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. We carry multiple lines of prescription diet foods so that we can tailor our nutritional recommendations to your pet's condition and diet preferences.
